Description: Open pool type, light water cooled and moderated, with Beryllium reflectors. MTR type fuel elements, square shape of 80*80 mm and 800 mm active height, with U3O8-Al dispersed in a pure aluminum matrix, of 19.75 % enrichment. Core is an array of 5 * 6 with the core central position dedicated for Co60 sources production. Core working dimensions is: 400 * 480 * 800 mm. Upward forced core cooling through two branches with 50 % capacity each. Reflectors, thermal column, irradiation devices and in-pool components are cooled by dedicated pool cooling system. There is an auxiliary pool for spent fuel elements and radioactive material storage, cooled by dedicated auxiliary pool cooling system. Power control is carried out by 6 independent Ag-In-Cd control plates, their mechanisms located at the beneath of the main reactor pool. Fast shutdown is achieved by the pneumatic mechanisms attached to the control plates mechanism and by act of the plates weight. A diverse way for shutdown is achieved by the second shutdown system, which acts, by injection of Gd nitrate solution at the chimney walls that surround the reactor core.
